Meet Sarah Wegert, Learning Technology Coach

Sarah Wegert is the Learning Technology Coach at Sanborn, Mountain View and Central Elementary schools.

Sarah, tell us about your background.

I've been in SVVSD for 14 years as a classroom teacher, MESA Lab instructor, STEM Coordinator, and currently, as a Learning Technology Coach. I also taught abroad in Taiwan for a year. I'm a SVVSD graduate (Frederick High) and originally went to college to study marine biology!

What does a typical day look like for you as a Learning Technology Coach?

Every day varies, which is one of the reasons I love this position so much! I might spend time co-teaching with a teacher, planning in a team meeting, coaching an individual teacher, with students learning, or reflecting with administrators.

What aspect of your job do you enjoy the most?

I really appreciate when the technology becomes a learning tool that can open pathways for all students. After trying a tech tool, I love when teachers share how a student was able to demonstrate their knowledge in ways the teacher didn't know were possible!

Please tell us about a project or activity at your school(s) that you're excited about.

I'm really excited about one of the apps we've been using this year: Seesaw. Not only does Seesaw incorporate student creation as the main aspect of the tool, but it also makes it so easy for teachers and students to share daily work with families. Families can "like" and comment on student work as soon as teachers approve the post!

If I wasn't a teacher, I would be a..... blogger?

What do you do for fun when you're not at school?

When I am away from school, I spend time with my little guy, my husband, and my dogs. We spend a lot of time hiking, reading, and hanging at our home near Estes.
