Become an Online Course Instructor

With 74% of companies offering online training for employees and nearly six million students taking at least one online course as part of their degree program, online education is becoming a popular and effective format.  Clearly, working professionals find many reasons to take all or some of their professional development online as well.

The SVVSD Office of Professional Development is offering more opportunities every year for staff to learn through either online or blended classes.  Teachers who wish to facilitate online learning are required to complete the class Designing and Teaching Online Professional Development.

This fully online (asynchronous) course is designed to build understanding of best practices in adult online education, skills to develop and teach highly effective online professional development, and proficiency with Schoology. Part 1 and 2 are linked courses - Part 1 being a self-paced overview of adult online learning theory and development.  Part 2 will be a practical application of material from Part 1.  In Part 2, participants will develop their online professional development in Schoology.  At the end of the course, participants will have the opportunity to submit their work to the Office of Professional Development and offer their course to district staff for credit.

Teachers may choose to take Part 1 now and then decide to sign up for Part 2 next semester, or sign up for both parts now. Part 1 will run from June 4 - July 9.  Part 2 will run July 10 - Oct. 2.  Successful completion of both parts involves creation of an original online/blended PD and credentials to facilitate online/blended PD in the St. Vrain Valley School District.

Part 1 is offered for 1 Professional Development/Salary Credit, and Part 2 participants will earn 2 Professional Development/Salary Credits.
